How Sizing Works

kWh, backup hours and what can run.

Battery capacity is measured in kWh (kilowatt-hours) — how much energy it can store. The right size depends on two things: how many hours of backup you want, and how much power your chosen appliances draw per hour.

  • Battery options from 5kWh to commercial-size systems
  • Automatic backup when Kenya Power goes off
  • Designed for lights, fridge, WiFi, sockets, pumps and selected AC use
  • Manufacturer warranty and support available

Set Realistic Expectations

What batteries can and cannot do.

A battery is not unlimited power. Backup time depends on the battery size, the appliances running and how many hours you use them. Heavy loads like AC, kettles, irons, pumps and water heaters can drain batteries quickly if the system is not sized properly.

Good for backup

Lights, WiFi, fridge, TV, fans, CCTV, sockets.

Needs proper sizing

AC, water pumps, washing machines, microwaves, business equipment.

Usually not recommended on small systems

Water heaters, cookers, ovens, multiple ACs, heavy machinery.

Example Battery Sizes

What a battery typically covers.

These are illustrative examples — your exact size is confirmed after we review your usage.

5–10 kWh

Lights, WiFi, TV, fridge and phone charging for several hours.

10–20 kWh

Adds sockets, fans, a water pump and selected small appliances.

20–30 kWh

Longer backup hours and selected AC use for villas and larger homes.

Commercial

Custom-sized systems for shared loads — pumps, security, lifts and equipment.

Battery FAQ

Common battery questions.

How do I know what battery size I need?

We look at what you want to run, how many hours of backup you need and your Kenya Power usage.

Can I send my Kenya Power token usage?

Yes. Send your bill or token history and we can estimate your daily kWh usage.

Do I need solar panels or can I start with battery backup?

You can start with battery backup and add solar later, depending on budget and roof space.

What warranty do you offer?

Warranty depends on the equipment used — panels, inverters and batteries each carry different manufacturer terms. The exact warranty for your system is confirmed in your quote.
